About Radish Farm Stop

Radish is a 100% local, direct from producer market. We sell our products on consignment which means that producers own the product throughout (like a farmer’s market!), and earn 70% of every sale. We’re open 7 days a week, with a robust assortment of local products, and coffee (like a grocery store!)

What are we up to right now? We have a location: 5357 Penn Ave S. Minneapolis MN 55419. We’ll be starting on equipment installation and construction in January, pending city approval, and plan to open in May (if all goes well!) In the meantime, we’ll be recruiting vendors, hiring staff, and asking for your help to get the word out!

About Lily

I’m the Founder and General Manager of Radish Farm Stop.

Growing up, the kitchen was a gathering place for my family. It was where we talked through challenges, worked on homework, and learned how to cook our favorite recipes.

I think a lot of this was because of my parent’s backgrounds: My mom came from a family of dairy farmers, and my dad’s grandparents owned a Scottish bakery in Detroit. This meant that they grew up with an understanding of where their food came from, and knowledge of what went into producing quality products. For each of them, this resulted in a desire to share their appreciation of food with us. So, we tried our best to maintain a Midwest backyard garden, and retain secret Scottish baking traditions.

I grew up fascinated with food and wanting to understand how the food system impacts our environment and wellbeing. So, In college, I took every class I could that covered food or environmental issues, worked on a farm, researched bee population decline…I was such a nerd about it, my friends started calling me “the bee girl.” After school, I buzzed around in food systems roles, looking for the perfect place to land and help make positive change.

I couldn't find it. So, I decided to create it.

After several years of planning Radish Farm Stop while refining my retail skills as a produce manager, we’re almost there.

“A significant part of the pleasure of eating is in one’s accurate consciousness of the lives and the world from which food comes” - Wendell Berry

Why “Radish” ?

Radishes are the first thing I ever grew. They signal the start of something new, fresh, colorful.

In this messy world, in order to drive change, sometimes you need question the very paradigms under which we operate, or the assumptions around what we are or what we could be.

Radish Farm stop aims to get to the root of a problem, to help foster a more transparent, radical food system.
